VTB says fighting off unprecedented DDoS attack, systems function

MOSCOW, Dec 6 (PRIME) -- Russia’s VTB Bank is facing an unprecedented DDoS attack from abroad, its systems work normally while some temporary issues can occur with VTB Online because of the protection measures, the bank said on Tuesday in a statement.

“The technological infrastructure of VTB is under an unprecedented cyberattack from abroad. It has become the largest one not only this year but also over the bank’s history,” the lender said.

The clients’ data are protected from the intrusion as they are kept in the internal perimeter of the bank’s technological infrastructure.

“In the course of the resistance against the actions of the hackers attacking the external contour of the bank’s system the specialists are doing everything necessary and possible to spare clients any discomfort while using the services,” the bank said, adding that some problems with the applications and the web version can still occur.

The analysis of the attack showed that it was planned and of a large scale with the goal of disturbing VTB’s clients.
